How to use Microsoft Office Programs with the Norton AntiVirus 2000 Office plugin

The Norton Antivirus plug-in for Microsoft Office scans documents for macro virus infections in Office products.

 

You may face some performance issues like

  • Unable to open some files within office etc.
  • Unable to install some office applications.
  • Get some error message.

 

To resolve the above errors, you need to follow these methods.

 

Method 1. Get the Latest Update:

 

Check the latest version of Norton Antivirus software, & obtain that if available.

Note: If method 1 doesn’t work, (If you can not update Norton antivirus software through Live update) then follow method 2.

 

Method 2. Disable Norton Antivirus Office Plug-in:

 

Disabling Norton antivirus may be risky. Because after disabling antivirus, it will

not scan any documents of Microsoft office setup – excel sheets, word documents, power-point presentations etc.

It becomes more vulnerable to attack by malicious users or viruses after disabling antivirus from computer.

 

1. Exit all programs.

 

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

 

3. Depending on how Norton AntiVirus 2000 is installed, type one of the following commands:

 

If the Norton AntiVirus program is installed as a stand-alone product, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

 

regsvr32 /u “c:\program files\norton antivirus\officeav.dll”

c is a placeholder for the drive where Norton AntiVirus is installed.

If the command is successful, you receive the following message:

DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded.

 

 

If the Norton AntiVirus program is installed as part of SystemWorks, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

 

regsvr32 /u “c:\program files\norton systemworks\norton antivirus\officeav.dll”

 

c is a placeholder for the drive where SystemWorks is installed.

 

If the command is successful, you receive the following message:

 

DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton Systemworks\Norton AntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded.

 

 

If Norton Internet Security is installed, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

 

regsvr32 /u “c:\program files\norton internet security\norton antivirus\officeav.dll”

 

c is a placeholder for the drive where Norton Internet Security is installed.

 

If the command is successful, you receive the following message:
DllUnregisterServer in C:\Program Files\Norton Internet Security\NortonAntiVirus\OfficeAV.dll succeeded.

 

4. Click OK.

5. Restart the computer.
